I'm new to this forum, allow me to introduce myself. I just bought a Stage Compact last week. And I really love it allready! Incredible sounds, I like the piano and rhodes a lot. Also the organ is not bad, but I have not found a sound that I'm pleased with to use in my setup.

I am planning to use the compact for performances, together with a masterkeyboard so I can play the Compact rhodes and piano on that
master, together with organ and synth on the compact itself, supported by a Roland sound module on the external section.

My gear apart from the Compact:
S90ES (use it at home, best weighed keyboard synth I know, but to heavy to use a lot on the road)
Roland XP30 (use this for the synth solo sounds)
Yamaha P70 or 90 (use this in the practise studio, is reasonably light so I take this to performances)
Roland JV1080 (light weighted replacement for the xp30 so I can still use the solo sounds on the external section of the compact)

Also I have a Korg M3 that I am selling, I have tried to like and learn it for the last 1,5 year but I never came to really use it. So no more workstations for me, I prefer direct (stage ready) influencing of the sounds. That's why I decided to go for the Compact.

So, nice to be on this NordStage forum, hope to learn from all of you!

Laver

Wow you got an incredible rig there! I believe you should really learn to use the M3 better, I believe that once you give it time, you will amaze yourself! I think that you will truly be able to say that you truly know anykeyboard you own when you can make from scratch any sound you want to use!!! That is mainly why I have not bought another synth (I actually do have enough money for just about anything I really want). I rather spend much more time "learning" the NS synth. I actually have come up with some great sounding synth string pads!! And just using one synth section!! Whenever I want to use a lead while in practice, I usually prefer to make it up from scratch, sure it may not sound as good as a patch you may spend hours trying to make, but sometimes one makes incredible sounds!!

So sure, you may actually know what every thing does and that kind of stuff, but are you actually able to make up any sound, instead of just loading it?? then you sire, dont truly know your synth!! (this is for anyone in general and also applies to using effects, drawbars, etc...)

It is kind of like truly playing good. sure many players will be able to memorize a whole song, but really good players are able to hear a short song and play it right away (well even if they dont play it very good)

Hi everyone! I got my Stage EX88 last week, and I'm glad I found this forum.
I'm Pablo, from Spain. I play in an instrumental band, http://www.versusfive.com
I'm also starting to do some recordings for local bands and a couple of scoring projects.
When I recorded the CD with my band I used VSTi for piano, hammond and EP sounds, and now I'm finding the stage beats those VSTi, at least in the piano/EP range. This is totally amazing, I wasn't expecting that great quality of sound, response and feel of the keyboard.
So nowadays, this is my setup:

Nord Stage EX88
Korg Trinity Plus
Korg N364
AKG141 MKII headphones

I also have a BOSS FV-500L for expression/volume, and a couple of FS5U for switch.

My first question is: Where would you recommend finding good beginner's training information for the Nord Stage EX '88? thanks, Brad

Hi Everyone,

Great to see all the different setups. I have had the Nord Stage 88VerC for about 2yrs now. Absolutly love the organic feel and the amazing sound I can generate.
I play in a band here in Northern Ontario Canada the plays 60's/70's/80's/90's tunes so I need a pretty simple set up.

Nord Stage 88
Korg Karma-Ver-2.0
Kc300 Amps- 2 -daisy chained for large gigs
Above was my main live set-up - below is extra's
Mac PRo
Motion sound - Low Pro / Upper Horn - Sounds great in the studio recordings
Berrhinger - 6 channel mixer

Other keys in my Sudio set up!
Hammond L111 - same as Keith emerson uses for live stage
Oberhiem - DB3 drawbar clone
Yamaha - S90
Yamaha - EX7 -

Thinking about selling the two Yamaha's and adding a Nord Lead3 Just for fun!

Cheers !

Hey everyone!!

After "rediscovering" the forum, I decided to give an update on my setup. In this last year, more like 6 months, I have added:

DSI Mopho (desktop version)
Korg MS2000B (got it brand new for 200 USD)
Korg Kaossilator Pro
Korg Kaossilator
Korg DS-10 (I think I had that from way back)
E-MU 1212m sound card.

I do mainly studio work for my leisure. Most of the stuff I record comes from my Nord Stage 88 revB, with some synth stuff from the mopho and arps and vocoded stuff from the MS2000. I got the Kaossilators just for fun, I have actually made a song using only the KOPRO (you can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLaRYU2DLEQ ), very fun to use. During my sessions (I am actually just starting to record an album with a friend) I only use effects from the EMU.

We are going to play live sometime in the future, but I believe my setup will be very simple, just my trusty nordstage with some clever programming and a mic :D thats all I probably need for an excellent performance of our material.

Have fun with your gear,
Gustavo
